So on the way back from the big bad world of America, where I spent a month in Los Angeles and Las Vegas meeting and greeting some of the best photographers and photoshop gurus in the world, I came back and spent a week in Sydney. I spent most my time filming over in L.A. and didnt really get a chance to do any photoshoots, so once I got to Sydney I was itching to shoot, especially after the learning experience I just had in America.

Luckily, local glamour shooter and all round nice asian guy; EdwardHor.com was able to lend me his Elinchrom location lighting equipment so I could go out and play during the week. Thanks again Ed! And then there was Ally. Featured above, Ally & I teamed up for a couple of photoshoots and so far we are pretty happy with the results.

So I just wanted to share a few of the seriously hot images we made together!

Yeah yeah I know, you want to see how I did it…

These images were all taken on a Canon 5DMKII. On the lighting side of things, I was using an Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS kit with two Action heads. On one of the heads, which was my main light I had an Elinchrom 53″ Octabox which is a magnificent modifier. It’s exactly what I use back home in Perth. So that was intended to dish us some beautiful soft light on Ally and expose her correctly. The second head was used with nothing but a bare 18cm reflector and was providing the rim light for Ally, to help separate her from the background. I switched up between my 24-70 2.8 L lens and my 70-200 2.8 lens. I am in love with both but I really do favour the 70-200 when I can.

After the shoot it was into photoshop where I went with the desaturated, slightly grungy look. It seemed to suit really well since we didn’t have much colour in the shot to start with. I used a few techniques to clear up and smooth the skin while maintaing details, and then I enhanced the background  more and applied some nice vignetting. They came out really good.

Any Questions??
